Supporting The Special Children's Christmas Parties

15.06.2023

One of our core focuses here at the Haakaa Foundation is to make life for families of children with special needs easier. Haakaa was borne from one determined mother’s desire to create a better life for herself and her special-needs daughter. Having faced many struggles along the way, she holds these families close to her heart and understands the battles they are going through, having been through some of them herself.

The Haakaa Foundation strives to reduce the financial stressors these families may face so they can focus more on their family and their children. It is incredibly important to us to support like-minded charities that help to relieve both daily and unexpected pressures that can come with having a special needs child/children, as well as those charities that work hard to create safe, enjoyable spaces and events for these families.

The Special Children’s Christmas Party is a New Zealand charity that provides spectacular Christmas parties for children and their families facing challenging circumstances, whether it be in their daily life or around their health. Since 1998, this charity has made it their mission to provide fun and enjoyment for children from all walks of life, especially since a lot of their attendees miss out on the chance to be invited to parties, or have to suffer through discrimination, judgement and scrutiny when all they want is the chance to blend in. The Special Children’s Christmas Party provides a safe space for these children and their families to relax, have fun and, most importantly, feel a sense of community and kinship with others.

It is a privilege to enter into our 5th year of financial sponsorship for the Special Children’s Christmas Party, and we can’t wait to see what fun they have at this year’s extravaganza!
